Context Engineer
About the Role
We're seeking a Context Engineer to become Bondi's bridge to the real world. In this unique role, you'll be responsible for teaching our AI systems how to understand, reason about, and execute complex tasks like a skilled human implementer - only faster. You'll design knowledge frameworks, craft examples, engineer prompts, and validate outputs to ensure Bondi can navigate real-world complexity with precision and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Knowledge Framework Design: Architect structured knowledge systems that enable Bondi to understand domain-specific concepts, workflows, and best practices
- Example Engineering: Create, curate, and refine high-quality examples that teach Bondi how to handle diverse scenarios and edge cases
- Prompt Engineering: Develop and optimize instructions and prompts that guide model behavior toward desired outcomes
- Experimentation & Validation: Design and run systematic experiments to test model understanding, identify gaps, and measure improvement
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with AI/ML, Design, and Product teams to translate user needs into model capabilities
- System Understanding: Help Bondi comprehend complex "systems" - technical architectures, business processes, design patterns - and apply them correctly
- Quality Assurance: Continuously evaluate model outputs, identify failure modes, and implement fixes through improved context
- Documentation: Maintain clear documentation of knowledge structures, prompt strategies, and validation methodologies
Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in a technical role (engineering, product, technical writing, or related field)
- Strong understanding of AI/LLM capabilities and limitations
- Excellent written communication skills with ability to craft clear, precise instructions
- Systematic thinking and ability to break down complex problems into structured components
- Experience designing frameworks, taxonomies, or knowledge systems
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and iterating rapidly based on feedback
- Fluent in English (native or near-native level)
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with prompt engineering or AI model fine-tuning
- Background in technical documentation, developer education, or curriculum design
- Understanding of software development workflows and design systems
- Experience with evaluation frameworks and A/B testing methodologies
- Familiarity with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems
- Previous experience in a startup or fast-paced environment
What We're Looking For
- Teaching Mindset: You know how to explain complex concepts clearly and can translate implicit knowledge into explicit instructions
- Detail-Oriented: You notice edge cases and corner scenarios that others miss
- Experimental Approach: You design rigorous tests to validate assumptions and measure impact
- Technical Curiosity: You're excited about AI capabilities and eager to push the boundaries of what's possible
- Pattern Recognition: You can identify common patterns across diverse examples and abstract them into reusable frameworks
- Pragmatic: You balance theoretical perfection with practical shipping — you know when "good enough" is the right answer
- Collaborative: You work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to align on goals
Why This Role Matters
As a Context Engineer at Bondi, you're not just writing prompts — you're shaping how our AI understands and interacts with the world. Your work directly determines the quality, reliability, and intelligence of our product. This is a rare opportunity to work at the cutting edge of applied AI, where your contributions will be visible in every interaction our users have with Bondi.
Why Bondi?
